Overview

Dave Brown Outfitters offers clients unsurpassed angling since 1990 on dozens of rivers and streams in six major watersheds across two Canadian provinces- British Columbia and Alberta. Their goal is to provide you, the customer, with a Western Canadian fly fishing experience that you’ll talk about for years to come. Discriminating anglers from around the world have taken advantage of the exceptional fishing opportunities on the trout-rich waters of Southeastern British Columbia and Southwestern Alberta. They are the first guide service to offer combination Bow River to Elk River multi-day trips, "same outfitter/multi-river" capability. They have earned the reputation of “the fly fishing guide service of choice” in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. Owner Dave Brown, is actively involved in guiding, and has fly fished for 28 years on the many rivers, streams, lakes and flats in five Canadian provinces, as well as Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, New York and even Cuba. His expertise is legendary in this arena. Dave is a Federation of Fly Fisher's Certified Casting Instructor. Dave Brown Outfitters operates fully accredited guiding services in the Elk Valley, S.E. British Columbia and S.W. Alberta.

Accommodations

Dave Brown Outfitters provides daily round-trip transport from your lodging in Fernie to your fishing location. The choice of where to stay is yours.   Some choices include: *Birch Meadows Lodge a great bed & breakfast located on the edge of Fernie.  The rooms in the lodge as well as individual cabins are spotless and comfortable. Breakfast is included in the rate, and at extra cost, if you would like dinner served on site it can be arranged prior to your visit, if you choose not to eat out or prepare your own dinner. This lodge is reasonably priced and convenient. *Fernie Lodging Company offers a wide selection of privately owned properties at attractive prices; they include chalets, cabins and condos. You may choose to have the added services of a private chef, catered meals, or grocery delivery depending on your needs. Fernie Lodging Company is the perfect choice for the max in privacy.  *Lizard Creek Lodge is located on the Fernie ski hill, offering both lodge accommodations and fully equipped condos and ranging in size from studios to 2-bedroom units with lofts. Pre-arrival grocery shopping can be arranged if you want to be your own chef, or you may choose to eat in the lodge's gourmet dining room or at one of Fernie's many and varied restaurants.

Fishing

Quality and variety of fishing, consistent dry fly action, and incredible hatches are the attributes for which the Elk, Oldman, Crowsnest, Saint Mary's, and Bow Rivers are known. You can anticipate catching large brown, bull, cutthroat, and rainbow trout in unpopulated, beautiful surroundings and a choice of waters ranging from small walk-and-wade creeks to larger floatable rivers and trophy lakes. All with great guides!

Getting There

You will fly into one of the following airports, and drive to Fernie. Kalispell is a 2½-hour drive to Fernie. Cranbrook is about a 1½-hour drive and Calgary is approximately a 2-hour drive to Fernie.        

Activities

Since you will be staying in town, visiting shops and restaurants can be part of the adventure. Photography is another great choice. Sitting quietly and taking in the beauty of nature or curling up with a great book can sooth your work-a-day frazzled nerves.
