Overview

Shadow Mountain Lodge is family owned by the Tim and Oz Faiers. It is located in British Columbia, and the hunting and fishing experiences you will have here will be those of the significant memories of a lifetime.

At this recently constructed and comfortably furnished lodge, you will find a warm and welcoming staff whose main objective is to make your stay both wonderful and memorable. You will feel cozy in the pine finish of the lodge. The north woods log construction both inside and out let you know you are close to nature.

Accommodations

At Shadow Mountain, you will experience all the ambience of the ‘Canadian Outdoors’ while enjoying the amenities and charm of the well-appointed lodge. Your comfort is at the top of the list of priorities with the Lodge owners. From the comfortable and attractive bedrooms, to the cozy living room, to the warm inviting dining room where you will be served great and hearty meals that will have you anxious for the next one! Since the Lodge will accommodate no more than eight, you can see how the staff is able to take such excellent care of you and your needs.

Hunting

There is a plethora of choices for the hunter. All hunts are led by professional hunters.

Mid May to Mid June – Black Bear (Which can be combined with fishing in Lake Kootenay for Rainbow or Bull Trout) September 9 -15 - Elk Season (Typically 7 day trip) (Can be combined with fishing) October 15 – November 15 - Shiras Moose October 25- November 15 – Mule Deer in varying venues January and February – Cougar Season also Bobcat

Fishing

Kootenay Lake happens to be the 100 mile home of some HUGE Rainbow Trout (up to 25 pounds). Just waiting for YOU! Occasionally you may catch 15-20 pound Rainbows. You are permitted to keep 1 large fish (16 pounds and up- per week or 5 per year). Your Fishing License is included in the package with well-equipped boats and experienced professional guides- so as soon as you get there, you are ready to troll for one of these monster trout. You may also catch Dolly Varden in Kootenay Lake. May through September You may fish for Rainbow and Bull trout in Kootenay Lake. The Rainbow are typically 2-5 pounds; the Bull run 4 -18 pounds with a few having come in over 20 pounds. In the lakes and streams there are also Cutthroat Trout up to 5 pounds.

From July through September there is great Walleye fishing.

Getting There

You will fly into Spokane, Washington. From there you will travel by land approximately 3 hours to Creston where you will spend the night. From Creston, the next morning, you will proceed to Riondel where Shadow Mountain is located.

Activities

At Shadow Mountain you can relax, hike, hunt and fish where nature is still ‘natural’ but where the accommodations are far from mundane. Special excursions and tours can be arranged ahead of time at a slight additional cost.
