Overview

Kamalame Cay is in the Bahamas, but worlds away from Nassau’s trendy, resort-lined beaches. Kamalame’s utterly private accommodations are tucked into 96-acres of swaying palms and flowering tropical plants. It presents a lush oasis enclosed in three miles of very private, white-sand beach and colorful coral gardens, the warm, turquoise waters just off shore teem with manta ray, parrotfish and blue tangs.

Accommodations

The Great House serves as a welcoming area and  socializing center for dining and cocktails and is just a few steps from the heated, freshwater pool, sweeping ocean views and al fresco beach bar. Modern interpretations of classic Bahamian cuisine combined with sophisticated wines and spirits, comfortable elegant island décor, and one of the only overwater spas in the Caribbean set Kamalame’s gracious 'barefoot chic’ character.  You may choose accommodations ranging from a 3000 square foot Luxury villa, to a 300 square foot Anglers’ nest. Anglers’ Nests are conveniently located nearest the Great House, Tiki Bar, pool and Pineapple House and are truly meant for the Angler. Each classically designed room is furnished in relaxed beach style with removable muslin window panels, a stereo system, board games and a selection of books. A kitchenette is outfitted with ice buckets, tea, coffee and a fully stocked fridge, including a selection of premium spirits and international wines. En suite bathrooms have showers, beach and bath towels, an array of Molton Brown personal products and plush terry robes. Anglers’ Nests are meant for double occupancy. There are beach suites which accommodate up to 3 adults. Beach Suites consist of a single large room (about 600-square feet), each with its own private entrance and a connecting door (lockable from both sides) allowing the convenience of adjoining rooms - perfect for families or groups of friends traveling together. These beautifull rooms come complete with a fully stocked wet bar including premium spirits and international wines, an en suite bathroom with a sea view soaking tub, and a covered veranda. Also included are a stereo system, board games and an interesting selection of books. As with all of our beach accommodations, breath-taking views and cooling sea breezes are a highlight. There are also cottages, and 1,2,3,and 4 bedroom villa suites.

Fishing

Andros Island is home to world-class bonefishing and Kamalame is fortunate to be able to offer two distinct fisheries. Andros is known to have the largest bonefish in the Bahamas. Fish averaging a solid 4 pounds to many in the 9-plus pound class are encountered while even larger bones work the edges of the flats. Seasoned guides using Maverick flats skiffs with poling platforms will meet you each day at the Cay to fish the local waters.  Full or half-day guided trips are available. You may wander on your own and wade Davis Creek’s sweeping flat, just a short distance from your room or suite. Reef fishing and off-shore guided fishing are also available.

Getting There

You can take a direct flight to Andros Town airport from Ft. Lauderdale or fly into Nassau and hop on a commuter or take a charter flight to Andros.
