Northern Rivers is in the Alumine Region in the northwest part of Neuquen, in Patagonia. The area has a number of virtually virgin fishing waters. You will be awe-struck by the beauty of this area, from the landscapes to the waterscapes and the quality of the fishing. This is one of the last areas to truly preserve and conserve nature. The Hotel Piedra Pintada is about 30 minutes west of the town of Alumine and on the shores Pulmari Lake.
Accommodations are in The Hotel Piedra Pintada. This hotel has twelve rooms with king sized beds and en suite bathrooms. A very comfortable place to be after the full day fishing! This is where prestigious luxury accommodation meets exemplary service and cuisine, and is surrounded by spectacular Northern Patagonian landscape. It's only 30 minutes from Alumine town. In addition, you’ll find a Sauna, a swimming pool, and spa treatments—for an additional cost. Wireless Internet services are available in the dining room area and the entry lounge. There is a reading nook with a cozy fireplace; and a restaurant specializing in regional and Mediterranean food. Laundry service is available at the lodge for an additional fee.
Fishing the Alumine and Pulmari Rivers along with their tributaries and the area’s spring creeks is an amazing angling experience. Northern Rivers is located outside the small town of Alumine, the jumping off point for this range of waters and fishing. The prolific hatches in the area make the trout search the surface, so dry fly fishing can be spectacular. Sometimes streamer fishing and hopper/dropper action can be seen as well. Wading is emphasized but float fishing from Mackenzie-style drift boats is available. Whether you want to fish smaller waters for trout or float the Alumine River casting hoppers at the tree-lined banks, the Northern Rivers angling program can be planned to fit your preferred fishing style.
You will take an overnight flight into Buenos Aires then continue on to Chapelco Airport. Northern Rivers’ Hotel Piedra Pintada is two hours north from Chapelco Airport (San Martin de los Andes) and four and a half hours west of the city of Neuquen.
For those. Non anglers, this region has abundant wildlife to see and areas to hike. Mountain biking and horseback riding are also available. There is a swimming pool and guests may also enjoy the spa for massages and beauty treatments (at an extra cost).
