Ian Ruthven is the owner-operator of this quality operation and one of New Zealand's most skilled and qualified guides, with 30 years plus experience, fishing and exploring New Zealand's Central and Eastern North Island rivers. Ian's philosophy is to give anglers the best possible fly-fishing experience in New Zealand. A wide range of accommodations, from elegant lodges and lovely B&Bs, to modest hotels and motels is available, depending on what you want and where exactly you are going. All equipment, food and transport is provided. Clients can camp, stay in backcountry huts, or choose from a range of quality accommodations in Taupo, including Bed and Breakfasts, or luxury lodges. Trout fishing in the Taupo region is world famous. Ian specializes in accessing the backcountry wilderness areas of this region to provide clients with outstanding rainbow and brown trout fly fishing experience. These special, untouched places are reached by helicopter, rafting, 4WD and walking. Raft trips can be taken over one or several days on the Tongariro, Mohaka, Ngaruroro and Rangitikei rivers, with countless fish in excess of 8 pounds caught. Take an International flight to New Zealand Flying into Aukland then a local flight on to Taupo. Visitors can enjoy hiking, cycling, boating, hot pools and health spas, Maori culture, scenic flights and more at added costs.
