The Experience
Fjordland Lodge tucked away in the hills overlooking Lake Te Anau is the most relaxing, uniquely stylish lodge. With its fine wine and food, exceptionally warm staff, it is simply a perfect retreat. It is owned and built by Ron and Robyn Peacock and caters to the discriminating traveler. Accommodations There are 10 guest rooms, all with amazing views across the lake and set on approximately 45 acres, with not another building in sight. *Deluxe Lodge rooms are located on the 2nd floor with elevated views across lake Te Anau backdroped by the Murchison and Kepler Mountains. These rooms were refurbished in 2012 and now offer a more contemporary look resulting in a bright, airy and sophisticated room, yet still offering that quiet escape and comfort. Deluxe Lodge Rooms combine a rustic and contemporary and boast ensuite bathrooms.*The 9 double/twin Lodge rooms are all quiet and comfortable. All have the same unimpeded views of Lake Te Anau and the surrounding mountains as the Deluxe rooms. The decor reflects the landscape, with muted natural tones and the huge picture windows which frame the lake. Top quality bedding, towels and toiletries add a sense of pampering. The ensuite bathrooms have the latest bathroom conveniences. Fiordland Lodge partners with local suppliers and farmers, cheese makers, and other talented artisans, to create a dining experience that is unique to the area. Guests will experience a connection to the land through dishes that focus on freshness, simplicity, and seasonal flavors. All meals are served overlooking Lake Te Anau with a view of the famous Te Anau night sky. *Complementing the Lodge's ten double guest rooms are two traditionally built Log Cabins, ideal for both families and couples. Both Cabins are separate and private. The cabins are on an elevated site with lovely views to the northwest across Lake Te Anau and to the mountains of Fiordland National Park. Each cabin has a quality queen-size bed downstairs, and on a mezzanine floor above one cabin has a twin room, and one has three single beds. These cabins have private bathrooms and are very private.They sleep four and five; guests staying in the Log Cabins have full use of all Lodge facilities. Cabin guests have A la Carte breakfast, pre-dinner cocktails, and daily menu changes. Deluxe reservations include all but 1 lunch meal while at the Lodge. Fiordland Lodge is designed as a retreat for adults with the majority of guests being honeymooners or retired couples. The policy is that not to accommodate children under five years of age. Fishing Fish with an experienced local guide for Rainbow and Brown Trout. You will fish rivers and streams in Fiordland and Southland. All and any fishing tackle required is provided. Plus fishing licenses, if required, will be arranged. All levels of ability and experience are catered to and the policy of "Catch and Release." is strongly promoted. Season: October-April. Fiordland is world famous for the quality of its fly fishing. The crystal clear unpolluted waters are managed as a wild fishery producing good stocks of large Brown and Rainbow trout. Fiordland Guides specialize in upstream sight fishing. Over 40 uncrowded rivers and streams are within 1.5 hours drive of the Lodge. Getting There International airlines such as Qantas and Air New Zealand provide daily flights from Los Angeles (LAX) nonstop/overnight to Auckland, New Zealand on the North Island. Then take a Domestic 3 hr.flight to Queenstown, leaving hourly during the day. and 1 hour from Christchurch. From Queenstown a shuttle can be arranged to transport you to the lodge, or you can rent a car and drive. Having a rental car will enable you to travel into town from the lodge and see the area sights. Helicopter transfers can be arranged directly to the lodge-( call for additional information) Due to crossing the International Date Line, you actually arrive two days later than when you departed, but return to the U.S. earlier then when you leave on your return flight.
