Overview

Fjords Fishing with Cristian and Marcelo Dufflocq offer a unique river fishing experience in the remote fjords of southern Chile. Their program provides anglers with the opportunity to catch larger and more fish than anywhere else in Chile. You will be as close to fishing "virgin" water as you can get on ‘planet Earth’. Coastal valleys with beautiful meandering rivers and forested mountains plunge into a calm inland sea far from the open waters.  This would be ideal for four anglers wanting privacy or for any angler looking for a truly unique fishing experience and get-away.

Accommodations

Enjoy the beauty of the fjords, and amazing bird and mammal life including penguins, whales, sea lions and dolphins while living aboard the modern, M/V Rio Azul, a Hatteras 53 twin engine Motor Yacht with comfortable accommodations, state-of-the-art navigational and communications equipment and experienced crew of four to serve your every need. This yacht offers two spacious, climate controlled, double staterooms with private bathroom and including a hot-water shower. The outside deck area along with the enclosed lounge affords great views of the surrounding natural beauty. Before lunch and dinner Pisco Sours and appetizers are served followed by delicious fresh meals served in the dining lounge.

Fishing

Groups of two anglers and a fishing guide, will leave the Rio Azul for the short run to the nearby shore or up a selected river. There will be a short walk up-stream and then “Let the fishing begin!” The fish in these streams are mainly feeding on baitfish, so streamers get plenty of action. Resident rainbow and brown trout as well as sea-run trout and salmon are typical catches. Fish are numerous and average in the five pound range but fish over 10 pounds are taken weekly. Larger fish, usually brown trout, have been caught  with the all-time record being a 39 inch, 20 plus pounds. For lunch anglers will enjoy a streamside lunch or return to the Rio Azul for lunch and a short rest during which the yacht has re-positioned in a new fishery. In the evening, the Rio Azul will anchor in a protected cove for a restful night.

Getting There

You will fly into Balmaceda Airport and the fishing expedition will depart from and return to Puerto Chacabuco, a two hour drive from the Balmaceda airport.

Activities

In addition to great and unique fishing, and relaxation you may enjoy watching and photographing the spectacular wildlife from the yacht or from shore.
