The Experience

Ichingo Chobe River Lodge is known as the 'Gem of the Chobe'. It is a luxury tented lodge, overlooking the Chobe River on the south side of Impalila Island, at the very eastern tip of the Caprivi Strip. Owned and run by the friendly and knowledgeable Ralph and Dawn, it has eight large safari tents amid the river-side forest. This lodge provides guests with a true African experience. Located in one of the world's finest wetland areas, it offers superb game viewing opportunities, bird watching and the chance to try to catch the mighty Tiger Fish. It has its own airstrip with customs and immigration facilities. The main lodge buildings have been constructed over the river, with thatch roofs and set under large, shady trees. The rooms are en-suite with a spacious private bathroom, and mosquito netting. Laundry service is supplied. There is a lounge and bar area, and home-cooked meals are served from the chef's menu, and served in either the indoor or outdoor dining areas. Meals are served family-style and are freshly prepared and generous in amount. Special dietary requirements can be taken into consideration. House wines, beer, and soft drinks are included. Power is supplied by 2 generators. There is also a swimming pool and deck nestled at the edge of the river, where guests can have a dip and then soak up the sun, in this amazing, distinctive environment. For an unusual compliment to the lodge, consider spending a night or two on one of the two Ichobezi Houseboats which ply the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers. This luxury lodge prides itself on the knowledgeable guides who work here. The guides have good success records in landing Tiger Fish, especially when fly-fishing. There is boat access to over 60 miles of prime water on the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers. Each habitat offers a different challenge from conventional to fly-fishing methods. The Tiger fish which grows to 20lbs is the main prize, however there are a number of 'bream' species, catfish, African pike and Upper Zambezi Yellowfish. The Ichingo Chobe River is also a premier fly-fishing destination. The excellent guides and jet boats can access rapids even in low water.

Imagine waking up to the sounds of the wild, miles away from the nearest cell tower. Here, the focus is entirely on the pursuit and the connection with nature. Our guides are locals with generations of knowledge, ensuring not just success in the field, but a deep understanding of the ecosystem you are visiting.
