Overview

Motueka River Lodge is in Aotearoa; it is uncrowded and safe; the people are kind and considerate- exuding “Kiwi Hospitality”. There are no snakes, poisonous spiders or bears to interrupt your fishing.  The climate is paradise-like. It is set in a group of Islands in the South Pacific known by the Maori name, Aotearoa.  Said by some to be the most beautiful land in the world. This is a privately owned retreat which captures stunning views of the Motueka River Gorge extending upward to the majestic Mt. Arthur mountain range. This  lodge was designed to harmonize with the surrounding countryside.

Accommodations

Motueka Lodge provides a level of luxury accommodation in a unique riverside location and exudes plenty of country charm.  It features a large lounge with grand open fire. A generous country kitchen, where all are welcome, sunlit verandahs, and charming gardens where you can lose yourself and get away from the world you face daily. The Lodge accommodates a maximum of 10 guests ensuring privacy and great service for all guests. The spacious deluxe suites offer a choice of a luxurious king sized bed or two single beds and features an en-suite bath, a separate lounge area with comfortable seating, tea and coffee making facilities, and lovely views. Regular suites offer a choice of luxurious king sized beds or two single beds, and en-suite bath.  Each has abundant natural light with large self-opening windows over the Lodge gardens. There is also a Family suite which features an en-suite bath with a large shower area and full length tub.  It has an enormous walk-through wardrobe with clothes hanging space on either side of floor-to-ceiling shelves and drawers.  French doors in the master open to a timber deck. There is a large lounge area with comfortable seating. This suite will easily accommodate up to four children with their parents. The lodge has Internet Access. Whether it’s homemade shortbread, flowers from the garden, or fresh fruit that is refreshed daily, you will find "kiwi" hospitality second to none! You will awaken to the aroma of freshly baked croissants and muffins. Homemade jams and preserves are set out on the verandah tables and fresh juices, homemade muesli, with an assortment of fresh seasonal fruit line the breakfast room.  If a cooked breakfast is preferred,  expect a savory feast par excellence. In true New Zealand style, three course dinners are created daily around your likes and dietary requirements.  Each course is prepared with the freshest of ingredients; local and organic wherever possible. (There are varying meal plans available)

Fishing

Rainbow and Brown trout are in abundance in local rivers and lakes.  Anglers have long known the secret of the local rivers is due to carefully managed game and wildlife habitat. The Motueka River Lodge is well known in these circles and having the very best most experienced and professional guides in New Zealand doesn’t hurt Motueka’s reputation!  Your perfect guide will challenge and support your level of fishing and angling expertise.

Airport transfers are available or you may rent a car and drive to the Lodge.

The Motueka River Lodge is a 45 minute scenic drive from Nelson City, renowned for vineyards, national parks, golden sand beaches, world class trout fishing, golf, art, and New Zealand’s highest amount of sunshine hours. There is also available: Golf, Horse-back riding, Skydiving, Vineyard Tours, Rock climbing, Helicopter and fixed wing scenic flights, Artisan tours, Garden Trails, Parasailing, and Mountain Biking-  almost endless possibilities.
