Accommodations  

Accommodations are deluxe, private, comfortable, and waterfront. They are based on double occupancy, and are luxuriously appointed.  There is a complimentary stocked fridge/mini bar in each room. The rooms have their impressive bathrooms, cozy fireplaces with seating areas and views to the water. Typically 4-6 suites to a lodge, there is a common area and hot tub for each building. You have to see it to believe it! There is also Satellite TV, and telephone service included. These cozy accommodations will leave you rested and rejuvenated for another amazing day of your chosen outdoor adventure.                   Dining at Sonora is an amazing experience! The meals are gourmet beginning with breakfast through lunch, appetizers, and dinner. There are 2 menus from which to select for dinner – a “Chef’s tasting Menu” (6 or 7 smaller courses) or the Bistro menu. Both are excellent. All beverages, wine, beer, house liquors, waters, and juice are included.

Fishing (Ocean and Fresh-water)

Sonora has an impressive fleet of cruiser-style fishing vessels with partial cover from the elements which are maintained meticulously and manned by experienced captains/guides who are Transport Canada Marine Safety certified. There is top of the line fishing gear from rods to rain suits – you will be amazed by the gear room. Everything you need for the comfort and safety of your fishing excursion will be provided. Pacific salmon have long been regarded as a premier sport fish. Mighty Chinook salmon can peel line from reels in a heartbeat, and the acrobatic Coho, the feisty Chum, delicious Sockeye and Pink salmon all swim the waters of the Discovery Islands at various seasons during the year. This area is renowned for its abundant marine life and great sport fishing opportunities. Your fishing adventure embarking from the docks of Sonora Resort, provides excellent access to these scenic, spectacular fishing venues.

Freshwater fly-fishing opportunities await you at the nearby Phillips River. This beautiful small river system boasts spectacular scenery and is home to trout and char year round, as well as several runs of spawning salmon in the later summer months. Sonora Resort will provide anglers all the best equipment, from Simms waders and boots to Sage rods and Abel reels. Professional freshwater fishing guides escort you by boat right from the resort docks to the River and can assist you in catching beautiful sea-run cutthroat trout, char and migrating salmon on the fly.

Getting There

  • First you will fly into either Seattle or Vancouver.  
  • You will continue on by air Float plane from the Seattle area on Kenmore Air,
  • Or from Campbell River on Vancouver Isl. By water taxi/shuttle at Discovery Harbour Marina. This scenic 75 minute water taxi ride is available daily departing at 3:00 pm..
  • Or by London Air (Private helicopter) Helicopter transportation to Sonora is available Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and departs from the Esso Avitat (near Vancouver International Airport) in Richmond at 3:00 pm.
