Overview

Anglers and Hunters in the Patagonia region of Argentina will be delighted with the diverse and beautiful land, mountain and water-scapes. They will also be taken a-back and pleasantly surprised by the quiet of the area. No crowds, traffic, or hustle and bustle of cities. There are few roads or airports, but a varietal plethora of secluded areas, majestic mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers that

are teeming with trout and salmon, mountain sides with herds of Red Stag. It is a location that will take your breath away, and when you leave, you will bring with you ‘memories of a lifetime’.

Alumine River Lodge

Surrounded by a picturesque landscape on the eastern slope of the Andes Mountain Range, in Northwestern Patagonia in Argentina,  Alumine ranch occupies thousands of acres on the banks of the Aluminé River, a worldwide known environment among lovers of fly-casting.

The topography of the area ranges from mountainous zones with deep valleys to flat plateaus offering various scenery to the beautiful Alumine River. There are mixed woodlands of thick monkey-puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) and mountain range cypress, all contributing to the beauty of Alumine Lodge and its property.  

Accommodations

The Lodge offers 4 rooms with private bathroom, a common  living-room and dining-room with comfortable armchairs.  You’ll enjoy the deck located just a few yards away from the river and furnished with chairs in which to relax and take in the beauty of the river. Cozy spaces and nothing but the best service for guests to enjoy every minute is what you will find at Alumine Lodge. And it is all complimented by typical delicacies of regional cuisine and the best Patagonian wines.

Getting There

From the U.S. Take and overnight flight into Buenos Aires where you will transfer to an In-country airline for a short flight to San Martin de los Andes. Bariloche; then transfer to the Lodge.

Fly fishing

If you are a dedicated Fly Fisherman, Alumine River Lodge boasts more than 9 miles of shoreline from which to fish.  The Alumine River is also known as the Collon Cura Trout Reserve. An angler can catch Rainbow, Brown, and Fontinalis Trout from the banks of this river. Expert guides accompany guests and coordinate excellent angling programs with a mixed venue of shore casting, wading, and boat fishing. The Alumine River is fed by several creeks which may also be fished. At lunch time there will be the typical Asado (shore lunch) and rest, then off for more angling adventures. The  expert guides will accompany guests and coordinate interesting fishing programs, combining shore casting (wading), with boat fishing.

In the evening you will return to the lodge which has 4 comfortable guest rooms with private baths.  There is a Living room in which to relax and swap fish stories of the day. The Dining room serves typical regional cuisine along with the best in Patagonian wines.

Big Game Hunting

The Alumine River Lodge offers not only great trout fishing but a real adventure in Red Stag hunting customized for your group. The hunt is conducted in the large game preserve which is more than 12,000 acres in size, and which includes some challenging terrain for the hunter. The topography includes mountains with deep valleys and exquisite views.

Due to the location of the lodge being in Northern Patagonia on the Andes Mountain Range part of the hunt will be by horseback and the rest by foot. The professional, experienced guides will lead the hunt.

At the end of each day you will return to the hunting cabins for a nice hot shower, time to relax followed by a typical Patagonian meal accompanied by the best of Argentine wines.

Activities

If you are not a hunter or an angler you might enjoy hiking, horseback riding, or relaxing in the Lodge or on the deck with a good book.
