Overview

Islas Secas it is speculated, are the volcanic islands of the Gulf of ChiriquÌ, including the Secas Archipelago, that were at one time connected to the mainland. It is believed that the natives of ChiriquÌ inhabited the islands from 100 BC. Evidence from archeological digs in the highlands region of the mainland in the early 1970s unearthed pottery shards and artifacts dated to this time. Islas Secas sits in the shadow of Panama's highest mountain, the dormant volcano Baru, twenty-five miles from shore. The resort rests upon one of the sixteen uninhabited, pristine, jungle-clad volcanic islands in the Las Secas Archipelago. Exotic wildlife, secluded bays, coves and spectacular private beaches, provide an idyllic setting and is Panama's finest, private unique getaway destination.

Accommodations

To ensure privacy, there are only seven Casitas. Typically, there are no more than fourteen guests on the islands with an equal number of staff members. Manicured coral pathways connect the Casitas to the Terraza (main terrace), dining area and bar, located at the head of a protected bay, with views over the beach, ocean and several smaller islands an idyllic setting for a cocktail and relaxation. All Casitas are equipped with wi-fi access, but none of them has a telephone, television or radio, except Casita Grande. The round casitas are secluded in the foliage yet offer amazing views of beaches and bays - while affording privacy to the occupants. Each casita can comfortably house two guests in a queen sized bed; they have hot water showers, fans, a mini bar and private ocean front or ocean view bohio, complete with lounge chairs for relaxation. Each is solar-powered by its own solar panel and battery system providing 12 volt and 110 voltage power. The Casita Grande is a 30 ft round structure located on a hilltop with amazing views of the surrounding islands and bays. This casita is furnished similarly to the standard casitas but includes a kitchenette, living area, satellite television, wireless high speed internet, and a large private balcony and a bohio. The main hub of the resort is the beach front Terraza area where guests meet for drinks at the bar, enjoy meals or just lounge about in the outdoor area. It is comprised of an indoor bar and dining area, and an outdoor flagstone patio with lounge chairs and dining tables where guests can relax, have drinks, enjoy meals al fresco or communicate with the outside world thanks to the high speed wireless internet connection - all while enjoying the sound of waves breaking on the beach and birds singing in the large mango trees which shade the terraza. In addition, there are hammocks nearby where guests can further unwind.
