Fishing

If you have ever dreamed about catching a 100 pound Sailfish on fly, it's time to discover Guatemala sport fishing. Year-round there is an abundant sailfish population. You will have opportunities for hook-ups that exceed those anywhere in the world. The experienced captains and mates will help the veteran angler and be glad to teach the novice the art of fly fishing for billfish. There are an increasing number of Marlin each year landed by Sailfish Bay Lodge anglers as well. Sailfish Bay Lodge owns 3 of its own boats. Two 32-foot Blackfins, The Maverick and The Gypsy , and their 38-foot Viking,Sirena .. are skippered by Guatemalan captains. If these three boats are booked, Sailfish Bay Lodge hires boats (typically 31-foot Bertrams) directly from the local fleet. These are generally skippered by non-English speaking crews, but they do know how to catch sails, on both conventional and fly tackle. Use of all conventional tackle and lures is included.
