Argentina packs more variety into a single country than anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere. From the high-desert spring creeks of northern Patagonia to the dove-choked skies of Córdoba to the golden dorado of the Paraná, Argentina is a sportsman's country — 54 of the experiences we book globally are here, more than any other single destination.
Patagonia fly fishing is the headline act. Rivers like the Chimehuin, Malleo, Collón Curá, and Limay drain the Andes into the steppe, producing wild rainbow and brown trout in the 18–24" range as a daily average, with true trophies pushing 28–30" during the late-summer stonefly hatches. Lodges range from full-service estancias with private beats to mothership operations on the big lakes like Strobel (Jurassic Lake), where lake-run rainbows over ten pounds are not unusual. Season runs November through April; January–March is peak.
Córdoba dove hunting is the highest-volume wingshoot on earth. A single gunner routinely fires 1,500–3,000 rounds per day on an estancia hunt; roosting populations are measured in the tens of millions. This is Lodge-based luxury shooting — full-service, shotgun rentals, shell delivery to the field, champagne lunches. Hunts run year-round but peak March–July and September–November.
Red stag in the Andes run March through July — the roar — and remain one of the best trophy-to-cost ratios in big-game hunting, with representative-class stags under $8K and monsters pushing 400 SCI score available on select ranches. Fallow deer, blackbuck, water buffalo, puma, and wild boar are common add-ons. Down south in Tierra del Fuego, sea-run brown trout on the Rio Grande are a separate pilgrimage — 10–25 pound chrome browns in what many consider the finest sea-run fishery in the world.
Buenos Aires is the hub: Ezeiza International (EZE) connects to Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Esquel, Córdoba, Rio Gallegos, or Ushuaia for onward legs. Most trips run Saturday-to-Saturday. Plan a Buenos Aires layover in each direction — the city is worth a night on its own.
